CUSTOMER SUPPORT ENGINEER // Seattle, WA

As a Customer Support Engineer you will be responsible for helping support our Production Center and our rapidly growing customer base located throughout the West Coast (including: Washington, Oregon, Northern California and Northern Nevada). Utilizing your extensive experience assisting customers and supporting a team, we will rely on you to ensure customer satisfaction by providing on-site installation, training, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on various types of 3D printers. Part of the responsibilities may include: providing superior customer service by pro-actively interacting and communicating with customers on a daily basis. As a Customer Support Engineer you will utilize technology to complete administrative requirements as required. Responsibilities:

  • Servicing and installation of 3D printing systems
  • Telephone/Email/On-site troubleshooting
  • Training of customers on system use and best practices
  • Maintaining service bureau 3D printers and surrounding environment

In this unique internship you will be working closely with the FATHOM design and Engineering team to create custom 3D printed prosthetics for children in need. In collaboration with e-NABLE, the FATHOM team is building prosthetics with a focus on improving fit, comfort and functionality, utilizing an open-source design platform. As a design intern, you will help manage FATHOM’s e-NABLE program as well as research, design, build, and test e-NABLE prosthetic designs. This is a unique opportunity to become a valuable contributor to FATHOM’s prosthetic program as well as the global e-NABLE community.

This is a 3 month paid internship with an approximate start date in June.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and evaluate existing e-NABLE designs for a specific child in need.
  • Understand functional requirements and translate them into feasible design solutions.
  • Communicate ideas to team through sketching, sketch model-making, and quick CAD.
  • Build, test and evaluate 3D-printed design iterations.
  • Collaborate with FATHOM team to identify opportunities, solve design issues and maintain design intent throughout projects.
  • Create designs with a fresh perspective. Document product designs with sketches, CAD renderings and organized design documentation.
  • Work hard alongside other designers and be very passionate about your craft.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (Rhino or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Great sketching, form development and visual communication abilities throughout the design process.
  • Basic understanding of solid mechanics.
  • Knowledge of designing for 3D-printing preferred.
  • Experience with vector graphics (i.e. Illustrator) preferred.
  • Experience using a laser or vinyl cutter a plus.
  • Effective time management and ability to adhere to project schedule.

FATHOM is looking for a detail-oriented individual who will help out in our Production Center with our expansion projects. The ideal candidate will be eager to work as a team to help continue the process and details around the planned developments, and would be available to start immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the production staff to develop 5S and kaizen activities to define the best working methods
  • Facilitate the changes in the operations resulting from 5S and kaizen activities
  • Work to ensure details in place for any existing and new department policies
  • Support and maintain establishment around regular inspections to proactively maintain the appearance and functionality of the Production Center
  • Communicate processes for safety awareness, emergency supplies, regular training for safety
  • Assist with facilities related projects including but not limited to office moves, lab and facility upgrades, build-outs, development projects, etc.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing and assembly
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills, flexibility and being a good team player are a must

As a Silicone Mold Maker at FATHOM, you will be joining our expanding Production team to design and build silicone molds for the creation of cast polyurethane parts. This individual will be able to utilize their experience to produce parts in fast paced environment. Responsibilities:

  • Design and create silicone molds to be used to manufacture cast urethane parts
  • Utilize CNC machined or 3D printed parts as mold masters for silicone tools
  • Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of work-pieces
  • Engineer molds with the required venting and gating to create high-quality plastic cast parts
  • Design and manufacture molds for full efficiency
